FoLix Laser Hair Restoration

A New, Non-Surgical Option for Hair Restoration

FoLix is the first FDA-cleared fractional laser system for hair loss, now offered at Advanced Integrative Medicine alongside our existing PRP-based hair restoration program. It uses targeted laser energy to stimulate the scalp's natural healing response — without chemicals, needles, or surgery.

Rather than masking hair loss, FoLix is designed to work with the body's own biological processes to support the appearance of fuller, healthier-looking hair over time.

What Is FoLix?

FoLix is a non-ablative fractional laser system that delivers precise micro-channels of thermal energy to the scalp. This activates a natural healing cascade — increasing blood flow, cytokine activity, and growth factor signaling around the hair follicle to support the appearance of scalp hair.

FoLix is commonly considered for:

  • Early to moderate hair thinning in adult men and women
  • Patients seeking a non-surgical, non-chemical approach to hair restoration
  • Patients who want to explore options alongside or instead of PRP hair restoration

FoLix is FDA-cleared for improving the appearance of scalp hair in adult men and women with Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV who are seeking treatment for hair loss.

At Advanced Integrative Medicine, FoLix is always considered as part of a personalized evaluation and treatment plan.

FoLix: An Addition to Our Hair Restoration Program

FoLix is the first FDA-cleared fractional laser indicated for improving the appearance of scalp hair. Delivered in a simple, in-office session, it gives patients an additional non-surgical option alongside PRP-based hair restoration already offered at our practice.

FoLix treatment is designed to be:

  • Non-invasive — no needles, chemicals, or anesthesia required
  • Quick — a full-scalp session takes approximately 30 minutes
  • Comfortable — patients typically report only mild warming or tingling
  • Downtime-free — patients return to normal activity immediately after treatment

Why Choose FoLix?

FoLix may be appropriate for patients who:

  • Want to explore non-surgical options for hair restoration
  • Prefer a treatment without chemicals, needles, or anesthesia
  • Are seeking a personalized, evidence-informed approach to hair loss
  • Wish to add a complementary option alongside PRP-based hair restoration

FoLix at Advanced Integrative Medicine is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Every plan is developed based on individual evaluation, condition, and clinical goals.

Safety and who shouldn't have FoLix

Common, usually temporary reactions include redness, swelling, itching and temporary shedding. Less common risks include blistering, burns, pigment changes and scarring. FoLix isn't appropriate if you have a current cancer or a history of skin cancer or precancerous lesions in the treatment area, an active scalp infection, chronic fungal or bacterial skin disease, or a chronic scalp skin condition. It is cleared for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV.

How FoLix Treatment Works

Comprehensive Evaluation

Your care begins with a detailed consultation that includes your hair loss history, scalp evaluation, and treatment goals.

Personalized Treatment Planning

Based on your evaluation, Dr. Sangha will discuss which option fits your hair loss. FoLix and PRP are evaluated as separate hair-restoration options. If more than one treatment is discussed, we'll review the limits of the available evidence on combining them.

Treatment & Follow-Up

FoLix sessions are administered in a controlled, clinical setting — typically 4–6 sessions spaced about four weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance visits.

FoLix Hair Restoration Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

Does FoLix hurt?

Most patients describe only a mild warming or tingling sensation during treatment. No anesthesia is required.

Is there any downtime?

There is minimal downtime. Some patients notice mild redness that typically resolves within 24 hours, and patients can return to normal activities right away.

Do I need to shave my head before treatment?

No. The FoLix handpiece is designed to part and work through existing hair, so shaving or trimming isn't required.

How many sessions will I need?

The standard protocol is 4–6 sessions spaced about four weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance sessions — typically 2–3 times a year. Your exact plan depends on your evaluation.

When will I see results?

Results vary by individual. Many patients report improved scalp health early on, with visible improvements in scalp hair appearance often observed after the third or fourth session.

Can FoLix be combined with PRP hair restoration?

FoLix and PRP are evaluated as separate options. The manufacturer has not established the safety or effectiveness of combining FoLix with other hair-loss treatments, so if you're interested in more than one approach, Dr. Sangha will review what is and isn't known before making any recommendation.

Who is not a candidate for FoLix?

FoLix is not appropriate for patients with any concurrent cancer or history of skin cancer or pre-cancerous lesions at the treatment area, active infection, or chronic fungal, bacterial, or dermatological conditions of the scalp. A full review of your health history is part of your evaluation.
